VP Racing Fuel Price Guide: How to Compare Pails, Drums and Quotes

Buying & budgetingUpdated

A useful VP Racing fuel price needs an exact blend, package quantity and fulfillment location. Compare the total quoted order cost divided by confirmed net gallons, then check whether you will use that quantity. This guide explains the comparison; request a current Navillus quote for actual pricing and availability.

Compare the same VP blend first

A search for VP fuel prices can mix different blends, package sizes and purchase arrangements. Before comparing the numbers, put the full product name beside each offer. A lower price on a different fuel does not establish that it can replace the blend your engine requires.

If you are choosing between products, settle that decision first with the builder or tuner. Our VP 110 vs C12 comparison explains the specification differences and the questions to resolve. This price worksheet starts after you know which product you need.

Also check what the listed price includes. A manufacturer website, track dispenser and supplier quote can describe different transactions. Another seller's displayed price is not a Navillus offer, and a website listing does not confirm stock or fulfillment for your address.

Check net gallons, especially when searching for a drum

People often search for a 'VP Racing fuel 55 gallon drum price.' Confirm the actual package rather than using that search wording as a specification. VP's current VP 110 page lists a 5-gallon pail and a 54-gallon drum. Ask for the SKU and confirmed net quantity of the package being quoted.

A container description is not a substitute for the quantity used in your calculation. If the quote is for 54 net gallons, divide by 54. Do not divide by 55 because that was the phrase in your search. For multiple containers, add the confirmed net gallons across the order.

Manufacturer package options do not establish Navillus inventory. Ask which formats are available for your blend and location before planning around pails, drums or a bulk order.

Build a comparable total order cost

Use one worksheet for each offer. Record whether the quotation is for pickup or delivery, which charges are included and when it expires. If an item is unclear, ask the seller to clarify it before treating the totals as comparable.

Fields to compare on a VP fuel quote
Quote fieldWhat to verify
Exact blendFull product name and SKU
QuantityContainer count and total net gallons
Fuel chargePrice for the stated quantity
Other chargesAny applicable taxes, fulfillment or other fees; identify what is included
Order totalComplete quoted amount for the agreed transaction
Availability and timingConfirmed product, fulfillment method and needed date
Quote validityExpiration date and conditions

Comparable cost per gallon = complete quoted order total ÷ confirmed net gallons. Keep a separate note for costs outside the supplier quote, such as your own pickup trip. Only include a fee if it actually applies; this worksheet does not claim that Navillus imposes any particular charge.

A pail-versus-drum example with explicit assumptions

The following prices are fictional round numbers for illustration. They are not Navillus quotes, current market prices or a claim that these packages are available. Assume the same approved fuel is offered in two sizes and the stated other charges cover everything included in each example transaction.

Hypothetical package comparison in U.S. dollars
Input or result5-gallon example54-gallon example
Assumed fuel charge$100$972
Assumed other charges$20$108
Complete example total$120$1,080
Net gallons554
Example total per gallon$24$20

The larger example has a lower unit cost but requires $960 more upfront and leaves you with 49 more gallons to plan around. That is not automatically the better purchase. If you only need a small quantity, the lower unit figure does not answer what you should spend or how much inventory you should hold.

Replace every assumed figure with the written quotes you receive. Recalculate if quantity, location, timing or included charges change. Compare the resulting order with your measured use and fuel storage plan, not simply the smallest number in the per-gallon row.

What to send when requesting a VP fuel quote

Give the supplier enough information to answer the first time. You can use this short request as a starting point, replacing each item with your actual requirement:

  • Product: the exact VP blend specified for my application, plus any approved alternative.
  • Quantity: gallons needed and preferred package, if known; please confirm the available format and net gallons.
  • Location: receiving address or city and ZIP code; please confirm the available fulfillment arrangements.
  • Timing: the date the fuel is needed, allowing for confirmation before travel or an event.
  • Quote details: total cost, included charges, availability and how long the quotation remains valid.
